The ACIMEX Design office and Production unit, located in Loire Valley, conceived and manufactured a specific hydraulic grab for their customer BOUYGUES. Indeed, the construction of a bridge for the Toulouse subway project required an equipment able to lift the bridge concrete segment without altering the quality of the concrete piece. A new challenge met for the french SME, expert in the lifting of industrial heavy loads.
BOUYGUES and ACIMEX combined their expertise for a major road project
For the Lot 7 of Toulouse Subway, ACIMEX provided BOUYGUES a segment grab for bridge with a capacity of 55T. This hydraulic grab is able to demould the concrete segment, and to charge it on trucks to be delivered on the installation point. The grab needed to be adaptable because there are 3 different segment widths for this part of the project : the Design Office also imagined retractable arms to adapt to each segment dimension.
As usual, ACIMEX technology was thought to guarantee the operator's safety on this equipment request : ultrasonic sensors allow the device to detect the different segments to close the arms correclty, and indicator lights warn the operator when the arms are open or closed on the concrete segment.
