Railway operators regularly replace rails when they are worn out, as well as the concrete sleepers installed under the rails. Until now, this operation used to be done manually, but represented a high risk of accident.
The ACIMEX designers working at the Study Office imagined a tailor-made piece of equipment for their client TSO, a machine that would be able to lift a rail section remotely, while the sleepers are replaced. The goal is to facilitate the mission for the operators and above all to ensure their safety during the operation.
An autonomous multiple clamp mechanical lifter from ACIMEX
This 8-ton and 14 meter-long equipment is provided with 6 clamps especially designed for the straight rail sections, and with 3 other clamps adapted to the curved rail section or the switch tracks. Each clamp is autonomous and can be remotely controlled, knowing that the 2 clamps at the extremities have a translation (back and forth) and a spin function.
Specialized in the lifting of heavy loads, ACIMEX conceived this equipment in order to lift loads until 17.5 tons.
It is equipped, among other things, with a soundproof diesel generator and a stainless steel electrical box. Indeed, the French SME bets on the quality of its material for the manufacture of their equipment, for it to support meteorological changes.
ACIMEX optimizes the safety of its equipment
The safety of any operator working near an ACIMEX vacuum lifter is the company’s main concern. Several safety systems have also been installed, such as providing the customer with an emergency command or a light control system to create an additional visual signal.
