ACIMEX provides equipment for the TE ARA TUPUA breakwater project in NEW ZEALAND

TE ARA TUPUA ALLIANCE (Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency, Downer New Zealand, HEB Construction &Tonkin+Taylor) are creating a walking and cycling link and improving transport resilience between Wellington and Lower Hutt. It will deliver a safe, connected and resilient route, enabling more people to walk or bike, and connect with local paths in both Wellington and the Hutt Valley.

ACIMEX provides equipment to handle the breakwater blocks of TE ARE TUPUA

The ALLIANCE is working on the construction of a safe and efficient 12-kilometres walking and cycling route between the Wellington CBD and Melling. TE ARA TUPUA will also connect with other walking and cycling facilities such as the Petone Esplanade and the Hutt River Trail. Concrete blocks, called XblocPlus armour units, are used along the shoreline on the Ngā Ūranga ki Pito-One section of the project. In order to manage the installation, 2 hydraulic XBlocPlus Grippers have been ordered to ACIMEX. They are currently in operation on site.

Experts in heavy loads lifting, ACIMEX has recently developed a hydraulic gripper especially designed for XBlocPlus. The use of these grippers guarantees a precise and safe positioning of the block on the breakwater : fitter with 3 rotation axis, the blocs can be placed easily with a slop of 25°.

ACIMEX partnered with Boss Attachments in New Zealand to deliver and install the units on the project, Boss Attachments MD Paul Herbison said ACIMEX have been a pleasure to work with on this project.
